Monday Macro

At least I got the day right this time; but I can't for the life of me think what this was.

Another from the vaults.

Enjoy your day.

  1. It's a very good don't Know! Have a good week.

  2. That my friend is a thistle, at least it looks like the flower of a thistle. Very much like the Canadian thistle. Can't tell for sure as the leaves are not visible.

  3. Great macro Keith. Looks like a Spear Thistle to me!...[;o)

  4. Thanks Adrian.
Sun shining here at the moment, but cold.

Thanks Horst. I think you're right with thistle, but the lack of leaves makes it difficult to ID properly.

Trevor, it could well be. I usually take a couple of general shots of just the leaves to help with ID later.
I think I must have deleted them this time lol

  5. Hi Keith...brain cramp? lol
Looks like a thistle to me...which on I don't know!!
It is a beauty, but not always welcome in the garden!! lol
    Hope you memorie gets better as the week goes on!! lol ; }
    Hugs Grace

  6. Grace, brain cramp happens a lot these days lol
I'm sure it's a thistle of some sort.

    Thanks Theresa. :-)

  7. It is a Thistle, what sort, well I can't tell you, I didn't even know there was more.

  8. Love the purple in this thistle, great capture.

  9. Thanks Bob. So many look the same :-)

    Thank you Gillian. :-)

  10. I'd have to agree with Thistle. They attract Goldfinches in late summer. Such a lovely macro.

  11. Thanks Hilary. A thistle, yea. Just wish I could remember which one lol

  12. Great capture of the Scottish thistle!!
I must show my husband this one - he has Scottish heritage but I won't hold that against him... hahaha.

  13. Thanks Liz; yea, neither will I lol

  14. Yes, Scotch thistles are a common nuisance in Australia but have a real beauty too. Their seeds float on the wind in spherical feathery balls.

  15. Pieces of Sunshine, thank you for stopping by, and your comment. :-)
