Monday Macro

At least I got the day right this time; but I can't for the life of me think what this was.

Another from the vaults.

Enjoy your day.

That my friend is a thistle, at least it looks like the flower of a thistle. Very much like the Canadian thistle. Can't tell for sure as the leaves are not visible.

Great macro Keith. Looks like a Spear Thistle to me!...[;o)

Thanks Adrian.
Sun shining here at the moment, but cold.

Thanks Horst. I think you're right with thistle, but the lack of leaves makes it difficult to ID properly.

Trevor, it could well be. I usually take a couple of general shots of just the leaves to help with ID later.
I think I must have deleted them this time lol

I'd have to agree with Thistle. They attract Goldfinches in late summer. Such a lovely macro.

Great capture of the Scottish thistle!!
I must show my husband this one - he has Scottish heritage but I won't hold that against him... hahaha.

Yes, Scotch thistles are a common nuisance in Australia but have a real beauty too. Their seeds float on the wind in spherical feathery balls.
