An update

Ten straight days, crazy shifts, and mind numbing meetings, are beginning to take its toll. I’m knackered! And that’s being polite.

A much welcome day off on Saturday, then another 7 day stretch, a day off, then 4 more days, and finally I get a week off. Hope I last that long.

Still not decided what I’m going to do once work finally ends, but that’s not till about August or September, so a few weeks yet. A couple of things I have done, is spend some money though.

A friend is building me a new computer, to replace this unstable one I have. The new one will be quite a beast when it’s done, and so it should, it’s cost a bloody fortune. The second treat is a new camera.
Money that should maybe be spent on the future; but what the heck.

I’ve never had a sensible head on my shoulders, so I figure why start now.

I haven’t managed any pictures recently, but here’s a couple for now, from a few weeks ago.

Off to work soon, till 10 p.m., but I’ll try and catch up with everyone later.

See ya.

Some recent stuff.

This may, or may not, be the last post for a while.

I’ve got so much going on at the moment, with redundancy meetings, trying to sort out my own future, as well as other peoples, and the computer still behaving erratically.

And no day off from work in sight until next Saturday, April 2nd.
Gonna be a long few days.

So, here’s some pictures for now.

First up, my friendly Crows.

These are from my local lake, and are always there, waiting for me to feed them.

A Treecreeper, that hung around long enough for a couple of shots.

A pair of Great Crested Grebes, that were in the middle of some courtship.

A lone Avocet, that turned up at one of the local lakes,

and a Teal, from the same lake; Willen.

Back at my local lake, Caldecotte, one of the Mallards, that’s taken to ambushing me when I turn up there.

And finally, one of the many Black-headed Gulls there.

Avocet

A couple of days ago, there was a report of an Avocet at one of the local lakes; Willen. Now this isn’t something you’re likely to come across every day; especially round here, so a quick visit yesterday, before work.

Had some very good views of this beautiful bird, and I was reluctant to have to leave.

A short video clip too.

I’ve got computer woes again. The (new) hard drive is going through the same motions as its predecessor. Just a matter of time before it dies, I think. Going to try and get it sorted as soon as possible, but if I disappear for a while, that’s why.

Sunshine here.....I hope it's shining where you are. Enjoy your weekend.

Frogs

I’ve got a small pond in my garden; just 5 foot by 4 foot. No fish, but a few frogs, and anything else that happens along. It’s pretty much left to its own devices, but for the last couple of years it has produced some frogspawn, some tadpoles, and then some little frogs.

Where they go once they leave the pond, I’ve no idea; but each year some bigger ones return, spawn, and the life cycle goes on again.

A couple of days ago, I noticed some frogspawn amongst the plants.

The next morning, there was another clump, and today, when I finished work, I counted at least 9 large frogs enjoying the sun.

Here’s a few pictures, and a short video.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, whatever you are doing.

A few for now

The long process of redundancy meetings are under way at work, so apologies if I don’t get round to everyone for the next few days. It’s all very stressful and tiring.

But here’s my effort for World Bird Wednesday this week.

Into the weekend

Apologies for not catching up with everyone, but I’ll get there eventually. Got rather a lot going on in my head at the moment  lol

I spent most of today at my local, Caldecotte Lake. The weather was dull at first, but was brightened by a flock of 40 Waxwings. The pictures weren’t up to much, but there’s a couple I put on my other blog.
Later in the day, the sun came out; and so did the birds. Here’s a selection from today.

I couldn’t resist a caption for the first, a Long Tailed Tit.

 “Alas poor Yorik…..”

Goldfinch eyeing up one of the feeders.

 Robin, singing in the sunlight.

 Male Reed Bunting

 Male Chaffinch

Goldfinch

This last one is not from today, but taken there a couple of days ago. It’s one of my friends from the lake.

Enjoy your weekend.

Some news

Had some news at work today that we were expecting, (so many rumours), but when you hear it, it still comes as a shock. Our warehouse is closing, and just under 1,000 people will be made redundant. All gone by August/September. A new warehouse will open further north, in Daventry. Cheaper to run; of course.
Thanks Tesco. Every little helps.

So, just a few pictures today, while I try and get my head round this.
