Hot in Wales

Had some really high temperatures the last few days; and some good light in the mornings, once the early mist has cleared.

Blue cloudless skies on a lot of mornings,

Lake Vyrnwy

and the Welsh birds have been very co-operative; and friendly.

Chaffinch

Here's just a small selection so far.

Stonechat

Meadow Pipit

Wheatear

Pied Flycatcher; male

Sanderling

and last one for now, was a real surprise, and a treat.

Tawny Owl

A great moment to be able to get so close to this Tawny Owl, out in the wild.

I hope everyone else is having as great a time as I am. Enjoy your weekend, and I hope the sun shines wherever you are.

I guess I'll be back to some sort of normal soon.

  2. Beautiful and perfect reflections on Lake Vyrnwy! How on earth did you manage to get that little Chaffinch to eat from your hand, that is precious. Excellent variety of birds, but the Tawny Owl is definitly my favorite, this must be one large bird and to be able to get close enough to actually see it... WOW!

    Enjoy your weekend! :)

  14. Oh, where do I start? The sheep on the hill, the reflections in the lake, the chaffinch on the hand...all are so lovely. And the owl...what a treat. But I think my favorite of the whole set is the flycatcher on the branch. It's just such an eye-pleaser. :)
